Use
Azelaic acid is important active ingredient in topical creams. It is also one active ingredient in other prescription treatments for light-to-moderate acne.
As a dicarboxylic acid, it is effective at killing acne-causing bacteria and decreasing keratin production.
It is also one material for rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions, to reduce inflammation.
It is also used as capacitor grade.
Azelaic acid is also used to prepare PVC plasticizers. its esters are used as a basic component of renewable and degradable plastics.
Azelaic acid is a component of synthetic lubricants and corrosion inhibitors. It is widely used as a thickening agent in lithium complex greases.
