Adipic Dihydrazide (ADH) is a chemical used for cross-linking water-based emulsions. It is also a hardener for certain epoxy resins. ADH is a symmetrical molecule with a C4 backbone and the reactive group is C=ONHNH2. Dihydrazides are made by the reaction of an organic acid with hydrazine.

Adipic Dihydrazide Use
Crosslinking Agent
Adipic Dihydrazide is a crosslinking agent in polymer systems. It can react with functional groups such as carboxylic acids, epoxy groups or isocyanates, forming crosslinks. This improves the mechanical properties and durability of the polymers. It is particularly used in adhesive, coatings, resins and formaldehyde adsorbent agent. ADH crosslinks with sodium hyaluronate as protein drug carrier.
Curing Agent
Adipic Dihydrazide has applications in epoxy powder coating curing agent and coating additive.
It reacts with epoxy groups to facilitate the curing process, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network.
This improves strength, rigidity and thermal stability of epoxy-based materials,
and makes them suitable for applications in the aerospace, automotive and construction industries.
Polyurethane dispersant
Adipic acid dihydrazide serves as a precursor or intermediate in the various chemicals synthesis, such as polyamide resins, polyurea elastomers, hydrazones and hydrazides. These synthesized compounds have applications in adhesives, coatings, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
Corrosion Inhibitor
Additionally, ADH is suitable for use in metal deactivator. It exhibits corrosion inhibiting properties, and can be incorporated into coatings,
primers or inhibitors to provide a protective layer that prevents corrosion and extends the lifespan of metal surfaces.
Water Treatment
Adipic acid dihydrazide is a polymer modifier in water treatment. It can improve the efficiency of coagulation and flocculation processes,
and helpful to removal suspended solids and organic compounds from water.
As well as EDTA 4NA, it is used as a chelating agent to remove heavy metals from waste water.
