Nylon Production
Adipic acid is the main material of nylon, specifically nylon 6,6. Almost 90 percent of adipic acid produced is used in the production of nylon 66. Adipic acid reacts with hexamethylenediamine to form nylon 6,6, which is a strong and versatile synthetic polymer mainly used in textiles, carpets, and engineering plastics.
